The UCL Summer School offers an intensive and immersive learning experience, divided into two sessions, with each session lasting three weeks. Students have the flexibility to attend either Session One, Session Two, or both, enrolling in one module per session. Every module demands a substantial investment of time, encompassing 45 contact hours and around 100 additional study hours over the three-week period, representing a full-time commitment. Consequently, pursuing full-time studies or employment concurrently with the UCL Summer School is not recommended.

Most of the modules are primarily level one, equivalent to first-year undergraduate studies, and usually do not necessitate any prior subject knowledge, with the standard Summer School entry requirements being sufficient. These modules are designed to offer introductions to potentially new subject areas, often adopting interdisciplinary approaches, and enabling students to explore subjects from fresh perspectives, either globally or through the distinctive lens of London. However, some modules are at level two or three, requiring some previous subject knowledge along with the standard entry requirements, and these modules aim to advance prior learning in specific subject areas. The selection of modules is vast, and although a background in certain areas is preferred for some, most do not require prior subject knowledge, allowing students to explore new academic terrains and perspectives.
